How to use crystals for emotional healing

Crystals have been used for centuries to help with physical, spiritual, psychological, and emotional healing.

In our previous blogs we have covered different topics that range from how to use crystals for physical healing, with focus on how to treat back pain to healing anxiety and depression to how to choose crystals and work with them and how their colour and molecular structure balance your chakras.

Today we are going more in depth on HOW to use these beautiful and powerful stones to assist you and your loved ones in your healing journey - with special focus on emotions

What are emotions?

Jealousy, sadness, anger, hate, anxiety, depression, the list goes on…we all experience one or more of these difficult emotions in our lifetime and some of us for extensive periods of time, which can lead to more serious health issues down the line.

The book "Discovering Psychology" by Don Hockenbury and Sandra E. Hockenbury suggests that an emotion is a complex psychological state that involves three distinct components: a subjective experience, a physiological response, and a behavioural or expressive response.

The root and expression of emotions is very complex and so is healing from them.

The truth is, holding a rose quartz will not suddenly heal your depression as sleeping near an amethyst will not magically remove all feelings of anxiety.

We believe healing requires different treatment modalities and crystals can be a powerful addition to complement your "healing practice", that special something extra to create synergy and positive energy.

There are many practises that can help you heal emotionally: meditation, breathwork, yoga, journaling, nature, seeing a mental health professional to name just a few...

Crystals can be that extra support you need to energetically bridge the gap between your mind and your body.

3 ways you can use crystals for emotional healing

  • Holding it whilst setting your intentions to power the intention
  • Keep a larger piece in your home for connection
  • Place them on the body part corresponding to the emotion

Holding it whilst setting your intentions to power the intention:

We believe one of the most important factors in determining your success is the power and clarity of your intentions. So, let’s begin with that!

This is what I do, there are so many ways you can do this so please feel free to explore and let your intuition guide you.

Set your intention clearly, this is done by first recognising what needs healing and then saying out loud or writing on paper what you want to achieve and how you think you will achieve it.

Here is a true example from our life:

Recognise: I seem to be impatient with my kids, I often get frustrated with even the smallest thing they do, this is making me angry, sad and frustrated. It is having a negative impact on our family dynamics and my health.

Set your intentions/goals: I want to be less anxious, frustrated and learn to have more patience.

How: Grounding by being more in nature, stillness by meditating, reconnecting with my kids in a different way by doing fun activities one on one with them like painting, dancing, walking in the forest.

Now this is when crystals come in handy.

Once you have chosen your crystal take it with you whilst you are going through the process of recognising, setting intentions and healing.

  • Hold the crystal in your hand or place it on a specific part of your body, more on that later…
  • Breathe deeply and centre
  • Tap into the emotion/ the part of you that needs healing
  • Set the intention and ask the crystal(s) to guide you and support you in this journey
  • Meditate for a couple of minutes whilst holding the crystal(s) so that its energetic frequency can override yours and bring you into balance

Do this as many times as you feel it’s necessary!

Keep a larger piece in your home for connection

Another way you can use crystals for emotional healing is to have a larger piece in your living room, office or bedroom to help set the tone and energetic frequency of your living spaces. Check out our detailed blog on Why you should be using crystals in the home.

Maybe even sleep with one or more crystals in your bedroom?! This has helped us as a family, it reminds us that even if we are tired and maybe had a bad day there is still room for hope, positivity and prompts you to maybe set your intentions for the next day? 😉

Prevention

Remember that you don’t have to wait to feel a certain emotion to work with crystals. If you know you might feel anxious going into a particular situation, then make sure to bring your healing stone with you, keep it in your pocket or bag as support.

Place them on your body, corresponding to the emotion

“I have butterflies in my belly” or “my heart is broken” are not just random sayings! A lot of feelings/emotions are felt physiologically in the body too.

  • Happiness: Heart.
  • Anger: Liver, gallbladder.
  • Anxiety: Lungs, large intestine.
  • Fear: Kidney.

Once you have recognised the emotion that needs healing and its corresponding body part lie down and place the crystal on that part of the body for 15 minutes whilst you are relaxing meditating or breathing deeply.

Check out our crystal guide to help you find the right crystal linked to a particular feeling and intention. If you can't find what you are looking for or need more detail we suggest you read " Healing Crystals for Emotional Issues" on The School of Energy Healing website.
